Soleil de Jeddah by Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 is the inspiration behind Special Oud by Al Wataniah, pairing leather, saffron, fruit and dark woods in an intentionally complex structure. Peach, caramel and red berries make this version sweeter up front, whereas cypriol, labdanum, oud and balsam turn the base resinous. The stickier fruit-and-leather treatment gives fans of the original contrast something new to explore.

Leather and saffron meet peach, caramel and red berries immediately, creating a strange but appealing mix of dry texture and sticky fruit. Pink pepper, cypriol, labdanum and ginger darken the middle, then oud, vanilla, benzoin, patchouli and balsam make the drydown thick and resinous.
Special Oud projects moderately to strongly at about 3-4 feet for the first 2-3 hours and eventually becomes denser and closer. Longevity lands around 7-9 hours, with oud, benzoin, patchouli and balsam giving the base plenty of persistence.
Special Oud is best in fall and winter, particularly after dark when leather, saffron, cypriol and balsam can breathe. The fragrance leans masculine while caramel and berries soften the leather. Formal dinners, upscale evenings, outdoor cold-weather events and distinctive date-night settings suit it.
