Sauvage by Dior is an original fragrance that became a reference point for the modern fresh-spicy, ambroxan-heavy style. Calabrian bergamot and pepper create the instantly bright opening, whereas lavender, geranium, elemi and vetiver build the aromatic center before dry woods take over. Its value as a sample is straightforward: this is the scent many later blue and fresh-spicy fragrances are measured against.

Calabrian bergamot flashes bright and almost juicy before pepper turns the opening dry and electric. Lavender, geranium and elemi make the center feel clean and aromatic, then ambroxan, cedar and labdanum leave a mineral woody trail that seems to hang in the air.
Sauvage is forceful without needing many sprays, projecting roughly 4-6 feet for the first three hours then eases into a persistent aromatic trail. Expect around 8-10 hours, with ambroxan, cedar and labdanum holding well into the later wear.
Sauvage can handle every season, though lighter spraying makes the most sense in summer heat. Work, travel, outdoor events and nightlife are all easy territory for its clean assertive style, with pepper, lavender and dry ambroxan giving it a clear masculine lean.
