Marj by Ahmed Al Maghribi is an original composition, and the attraction is how much it packs into one fragrance without settling into a simple oud formula. Honeyed citrus and spice collide with rose, saffron and woods before pear, raspberry, leather, ambergris and agarwood take over the base. Sample it when you want a statement scent that moves between fruity richness and polished dark leather instead of choosing one side.

The first spray is dense: bergamot, pepper, tangerine, honey, spice and oud seem to arrive at once, almost like a dark fruit liqueur poured over polished wood. Rose and saffron emerge through the middle, then raspberry, pear, leather, ambergris, violet and agarwood make the drydown deeper, smoother and noticeably darker.
Marj is unapologetically powerful, pushing a room-filling fruity-oud and leather cloud with very little effort. It regularly lasts well past 12 hours, and traces can hang on to clothing for days, so this is one to spray lightly.
Marj makes the most sense on cold fall and winter nights when its honey, oud, leather and ambergris can open up without becoming oppressive. Reach for it at formal events, upscale dinners, outdoor evening gatherings or any occasion where you actually want your fragrance to arrive before you do. The dark leather and oud give it a masculine lean, softened by rose, pear and raspberry.
