Hala by Lattafa is inspired by Full Incense by Montale, focusing on dry spice, cedar and a dense incense-labdanum base. Nutmeg and pepper make Lattafa's opening more obviously spicy, then amber briefly warms the middle before the resins take control. Anyone seeking sweetness should look elsewhere; the point here is smoke, dry wood and incense.

Pepper and nutmeg open dry enough to feel almost dusty before cedar and amber create a spare woody center. Incense then rises through labdanum like smoke collecting in a quiet room, leaving very little sweetness behind.
Hala has a strong 3-5 foot spice-and-incense presence for the first 2-3 hours before tightening into a smoky resinous trail. The scent stays present for around 8-10 hours, with labdanum and cedar keeping the later wear dry and persistent.
Hala belongs to fall and winter, particularly evenings and cold outdoor weather where incense can breathe. Cultural events, contemplative settings and formal dinners suit its austere dry-spice character, which leans masculine.
